The world is too complex for us to be able to process all of it. We can invent tools that allow us to see and hear, but the reason why we see and hear is really about our relationship as individual agents to our environment. Language isn't important for how it makes you think about the environment or allows you to coordinate with others around the environment in certain socially useful ways. It's a kind of a map or a pointer for people to coordinate around.
