The Importance of Writing for the Ear
When reading guest bios, I always feel a little weird when they start with the clause like equally at home in both corporate communications and nonprofit. When you're writing for the ear, that's just one of the things that you need to to remember. It's not the same as writing for the eye. Your sentences need to be shorter. You can't do a James Baldwin 157 word sentence in a speech. And you also need to repeat things. So it's good practice to mix up long and short sentences anyway in any writing.
