Don't Let Them See You Cry

There's a character being narrated in the title of the poem that doesn't occur in the body of the poem, the mother. And don't let them see you cry feels like a sense to say, let me see a cry. I'm supportive, but they may not be. There is a profound strengthening and agency being given through those words as well as almost like a commissioning.
