In Ayurveda, Chiraka, one of the great physicians and sages in the Vedic tradition, he spoke about exercise as from the perspective of producing whiteness. We are designed to just exercise to the point where the body is actually still removing stress, not to push beyond that state. Over time, what this stress does to the system is it wears it down. Free radical damage, pressure on the joints, the heart obviously can get overtaxed. And so why we need to as athletes, you've got to take all these antioxidants and special diet to counteract the effects of free radical damage happening in the body.
