The Importance of Unification in India
The most important consideration for the Government of India was to secure the unity of India in the aftermath of partition. The Indian Union does not envisage it as a federal state, because they did not want to give any kind of sovereign powers even to federating units. So there were many reasons for a unitary strong centralized states being the desired outcome.
