The Metaphysical Underpinning of Orwell's Dystopia
Higgins: If we frame this issue exhaustively in terms of individual freedom, then we play into Big Brother's hands. It is Orwellian because belief and speech about gender as an objective reality are being policed and suppressed. But what Higgins is pointing out is that the kind of deeper metaphysical underpinning is not that it's false as opposed to true. Neither matters because it ordered a sense from man.
