In your book, Something Deeply Hidden, you describe how Schrodinger's cat being either dead or alive would rapidly decohere into two branches due to interactions with the environment. Tarun: Wouldn't the cat indeed be in a superposition of states as far as the outside world is concerned until the box is opened? He says even if it's not possible in practice, but practice matters for these questions.Tarun: You can't say the black hole is three dimensional or two dimensional. It appears one way or the other two different observers are from different perspectives.
Welcome to the March 2023 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). We take questions asked by Patreons, whittle them down to a more manageable number — based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good — and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic. Enjoy!
