The Savviness of Joseph Smith as a Businessman
I think that Joseph Smith was possibly America's greatest con artist. He wasn't just like a con artist, cult leader. He was a savvy sort of manipulator, business savvy guy too. So at this time he is trying to get the book of Mormon published through all these different people. And they just keep trying to find different people who give them a better deal. They're like playing all these people off against each other. This also speaks to the connection between Joseph Smith's inspiration to write a book like this and try to get it published by a very famous anti-masonic publisher.
