The History of Mental Asylums
For most of human history, people with severe mental illness had to be cared for at home. Eventually, as the economy developed, group homes or the severely mentally ill started popping up in various places. At first, they were called asylums; because of their clientele, they're now known as lunatic asylums and insane asylums.
