Jerome Powell, the chair of the Federal Reserve, was sounding a much more reserved note about the possibility of CBDCs and their introduction in the United States. He said there's a great deal of work yet to be done as well as extensive public consultation to be had with all stakeholders before making such a decision. This also explains the much more reserved thoughts of Jerome Powell at the very same IMF live stream from which the now thankfully infamous clip of Augustin Karsten's the Rotund executive director of the Bank for International Settlements where he was salivating over central bank liability.
