The Importance of Community Within Fandom
Francesca Copa is a professor at Mulemberg College and founder of the Organization for Transformative Works. OTW runs the site Archive of Our Own, fondly known as A03; it's an archive that houses content from over 57,000 fandoms. That's including almost 11 million works of fanfic. Francesca: People have been borrowing from each other and getting inspired by existing stories for a long time. In fact, some of the earliest fan art comes from Gulliver's Travels written in 1726.
