Garry duset shot his son at point blank range, in the head. He was sentenced to five years probation and 300 hours of community service. Garry would later explain to psychologists that he heard voices in his head telling him he needed to kill jeff or he'd continue harming his son. Jody describes hearing the news about what had happened: "I woke up the next morning and my grandparents had this look of horror on their faces"
