Identifying and Classifying Sperm Whale Clans Based on Patterns of Codas

Researchers have been studying sperm whales, recording them underwater with underwater microphones. They used software to pull the codas out of the recordings. The idea being that two recordings where the whales are from the same clan will be more likely to have very similar codotype scheme.
