What Is a Microchip?
A chip is a piece of silicon, often the size of your fingernail that has millions or many cases billions of tiny circuits carved into it. These circuits are opened or closed by a device called a transistor, which is just a switch that turns on and off. The miniaturization has been what's driven advances in computing power.
