The FTC's Disclosure Rules

The FTC's policy or one of the one of their missions is to make sure that people understand when they're being advertised. The rule is if you are endorsing some advertiser, whether it's as an influencer or an affiliate or an investor or what have you,. If there is a material connection between the person making the endorsement and the advertiser, then the audience needs to know about that connection. It can also be sending free products in exchange for posts. And so that's why we have things like hashtag ad and sponsor.
