CHAPTER

The Confirmation Bias of Capitalism

Capitalism is freedom, but it's also exploitation. Each of us view the world differently. And these differences and views affect not only what we believe, but also what groups we choose to join. The confirmation bias means we seek and remember information that links with our pre-existing beliefs. If you show a banker who adores her Porsche and paycheck those videos, she'll remember much more from the pro-capitalist video. Show a trade union leader the same video, and he'll remember far less. Instead, his brain will be bubbling with reasons why he disagrees.
