Burma - A History of the Mongols
The Burmese delegation formally acknowledged Mongol power over their kingdom and agreed to pay an annual tribute. But the agreement broke down only a month later. Whatever the situation the Mongols had no interests in a drawn-out conflict. In late June 1287 king Narathir Pate was intercepted en route by his second son the Hatu who had him assassinated.
