As a mathematician, I brought with me sort of mindsets and like ways of thinking that were really valuable. But if you only did math, that was the only thing you did, you'd also be missing a lot. And so I'm curious to hear your thoughts about what are the ways ofthinking that you bring from being a philosopher, do you think are really beneficial in your other work? Well, one of the main skills that philosophy taught me was to just interrogate everything.

What is 80,000 Hours? What sorts of people should become entrepreneurs? How can you run cheap experiments on yourself? What are some beneficial modes of philosophical thinking?

Arden has a PhD in philosophy from New York University, with a specialisation in ethics and attitudes toward time, and a B.A. in philosophy from University of California, Berkeley.
