The Differences Between Fantasy and Static Worldviews

There are so many fantasy books where you're like I can't imagine in 500 years that these people would be anywhere but exactly where they are right now. So many fantasy worlds I've seen where it feels like the borders were drawn 5,000 years ago and haven't changed since. And some king died 800 years ago and we're all waiting for his line to come back. And we have a government in over the years. It's something that is super cool to interrogate and to sort of explore, and that's something that I definitely want to do in my own work.
