The Music of John Coltrane

Monen is one of the most influential jazz albums of all time. John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Cannonball Adderley were bringing on a new style that was versed in the earlier stuff but had a definite, a new sound all its own. The song starts with what's known as the head -- where the piano plays first and the horns respond. Then they go into the bridge; this is actually where the beat comes in.
