The Relationship Between High Remainder Cholesterol and Metabolic Syndrome
The scientists say metabolic syndrome is one of the most common chronic non communicable diseases worldwide. Previous studies have confirmed that atherosclerotic lipid abnormalities were closely related to metabolic syndrome amongst individuals with high triglycerides and LDL low LDL cholesterol levels. We hypothesized that triglyceride rich lipoprotein cholesterol known as remnant cholesterol may also be closely associated with metabolic syndrome. The results show that a higher remnant cholesterol was independently associated with increased risk for metabolic Syndrome.
