Much of Catholic teaching comes through Thomas Aquinas, which is his appropriation of Aristotle. So you need families, but then families don't get along. You need some kind of mechanism by which families don't have to feud and fight all the time. And this is a common language and a small polis that's there. But if it starts to become too dominant from the top down, you start to lose all of those pieces and then the whole thing will come cascading down.
