What's the Right View of the History of American Pragmatism?

Bob Greene: I want to hear more about the role that Lewis and Quine in particular play in your story of pragmatism. But can you tell us a little bit about where Dewey fits in earlier? You put Dewey and James into the same category as the non-person interpretation, he says. Greene: The received view has it that it disappeared from the philosophical scene because those bully boys, the logical empiricists, just chased pragmatism out of the best philosophy departments in America.
