The book is subtitled an wis wy, is rationality scarce, or seems scarce? And that's one reason i was excited to read the book. I wanted to see what pinker's view of this is. It definitely captures major strains in today's political intellectual landscape. He doesn't think social media is the primary it's just a contributing factor. But he has some points there about what accounts for the rise of conspiracy thinking. The wider oint that struck me after reading this account of his about where we are culturally is it doesn't go deep enough.
