We need to rearrange where the phosphate sits. We use this not using an isomerase, but using a mutase called phosphoglycerate mutase. And so now what we've got is the phosphate on the second carbon. Next step is to add an oxygen between the phosphate and that second carbon. Now we're going into the last step to go from phosphoenol Pyruvate to pyruvate itself. The final step of glycolysis, arguably. I'm saying lactates the final step, but we can discuss that later.
