The violence and all the bloodshed of the civil war changed the ay that the funeral businesses sold their goods. So embalming took off because soldiers bodies needed to last the trip back home. Suddenly people wanted death to seem a little bit less deathy. How often do they just move the gravestones and not the bodies? A lot of the time.
