Theodore Roosevelt and Race and His Rhetoric
Leroy Dorsey is an associate dean in the College of Liberal Arts at Texas A&M University. He says Roosevelt was a product of his time and accepted that non-whites were inferior to whites. But he didn't use the federal government to expand rights for non-Whites, but did try to defend certain rights they had. The P&H system which was basically another form of slavery would have kept people enslaved again through thissystem. So he's a sort of sort of mix of contradictions in regards to race.
