The Perkins Brothers' Story
The Perkins Brothers spent the next several years honing their craft, playing some of the roughest bars in Tennessee. They had to develop an ability to play dance music for venues where it was customary to buy two bottles of beer at a time and smash one over someone else's head. Both Carl and Jay would take turn singing lead, and when they ran out of songs to perform, Carl would improvise new ones around standard chord changes.
