The Importance of Close-Ups in Film
"There are ways to tell his story in a small volume," he says. "If you have an opportunity to do your wides in the real environment, and then come in and do your close-ups on the volume that's controlled, there's a huge bonus for that." The film was doing exactly the same thing when it first came out: shooting exteriors up in the snows or the Rocky Mountains against back-projectional.
