The Peacock's Tail Makes Me Sick
Sexual selection drives traits like the bower or the peacock's tail. And then natural selection says, well, that's enough until that's why there's a limit. By adding extra parts on to the tails of widow birds, those males were preferentially selected by the females. That relates to robin's point, imean, the trait has to be costly up to a point. If everybody could fake it, they would in terms of the social behaviour.
