Why did it happen so much more quickly in egypt is a really fascinating question, i don't have particularly great answer to. The stories that people tend to come up with when they're basically relying on theories like general theories of social evolution just tend to be way more boring than evidence. But what's been emerging over the last 30, 40, 50 years of work is there was an absence of kingship before this lake came into existence. There were clearly these kind of microb polities, these micro kingdoms which are very blandly called custo nubia and abacolos nirabada by archaeologists.
