There is a skill of knowing when to quit, when to give up. I think in general we probably give up way too easily on most things. But sometimes giving up that is important. Another puzzle lesson that I really like comes from hide and seek puzzles. These have a long, long history. They were long before Waldo. There was a famous Flemish painter in the 16th century who would hide all sorts of secrets in his paintings. And there are two reasons that I love these kinds of puzzles. Now one is that it's all about noticing. Unless you try to remember to notice you will go through life noticing very little.
