We met up in Vancouver for a conference for the American Philosophical Association. You were there because you are a philosopher at heart, I was there because I am a philosopher by profession. Neither of us attended the other's session. No. That would be too weird. Yeah. Well, I talked about predictably restorative justice and I defended it against a particularly annoying objection that retributivists and desert theorists make.

David and Tamler are pulled into Ursula K. Le Guin's "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas." Omelas is a truly happy city, except for one child who lives in abominable misery. Is that too high a moral cost? Why do some people walk away from the city? Why does no one help the child? Why does Le Guin make us create the city with her?
