Column stores are a factor of 50 or 100 faster than row stores on the traditional data warehouse problems. OLTP is in the process of becoming a main memory database market and not a traditional architecture market. So there's no place that I can see that the traditional architecture is viable, so I see that it will gradually fade into the sunset.
