Is It the Same Thing, of Course, as in Western Democracies Where the Polls Are Something to Measure the Temperature to Figure Out How Much on the Rest You Might See if You Take a Certain Action?
The reason we're not seeing as massive protest, as we've seen 10 years ago in Russia is not because he's become more popular. The leaders of the protest have been either jailed or killed or left the country. And going to a protest, it was risky then. It's much riskier now. This is not because fewer people are against an actual conflict with people dying than against annexation of Crimea. That's the reverse of the situation.
