Average power lifter could spend slightly over two hours per week and improve their total more than what most powerlifting coaches would consider a meaningful degree. It took three plus years and some funding in the form of a donation to recruit 30 people, essentially for studies that were relatively attractive. So telling a powerlifter, Hey, come and max out, nearly max out every week, is not, is not the worst proposition.
