Alison's mother Cheryl refused to accept any apologies from the accused men, saying they're all sorry when they're caught. The misconception that abused children only came from dysfunctional, unattentive families infuriated her family. Alison and her family travelled across the country to testify at age of 12. When a child is harmed, the family is harmed. Some were ordered to pay restitution fees to survivors, with one member forced to pay close to $60,000 to Alison. During one trial, Judge Tim Leonard stated, the damage done to innocent young children is something that can't be repaired.
