S1 – 1: The Arrival
Unobscured
00:00
Samuel Parris and the Goodwins
Samuel Parris and his wife Elizabeth had two daughters, Betty and Abigail. The girls began to suffer from convulsions in February of 1692. A local doctor suggested that the girls were under an evil hand. Mary Sibley made biscuits out of urine which was then fed to the family dog as a cure for the symptoms. It is not known why this action backfired so soon after its creation.
