Forensic scientists attempted to test the pubicare found on Deirdre Kennedy's body, but it was destroyed in the process. By 1997, use of digital imaging techniques led to some groundbreaking developments in forensic dental technology. The original experts who had given evidence at Carol's trial had been looking at the bite marks the wrong way around. An article sprucing the forensic advances led to renewed interest in the case and prompted an influx of tip-offs.
