There's definit a strand of this novel that is about er, different ideas of god. Marri's father's idea of god is is a very harsh god involving punishment. I and he whip themselves and whip each other. The drought which is caused by the lord, yes, in his name, william. Everyone's a piece of shit. Every one suffers horribly. Every one deserves to suffer horribly. There's just poop just lying around everywhere there is.
