The Influence of Johann Van Herder on the German Intellectual Society

Johann van Herder is perhaps best characterised in his early years as the theoretician of Stömmer and Räng. Häder wanted to change literature and art by refocusing on emotional language, emotional expression, and also emotional understanding. He thought the enlightenment was not necessarily a terribly bad thing, but it was wrong in its focus on reason and rationality.
