The Paradox of Grace and Free Will

Augustine: God is the first cause of everything, including our free choices. He sees that fullness of scriptural paradoxicality. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling for its God who works in you. That's not compromising on either half of the paradox. So he doesn't solve a problem by clever philosophy. He solves it by deep insight into the two halves of the Paradox.
