How to Avoid Partially Placed Implants and Expulsions
There was maybe a 2% risk of expulsion compared to zero for those who waited. In patients that are in the very, very short postpartum interval, it's a great idea to do this under ultrasound guidance. It doesn't erase the need to come back for a string check because expulsions can still happen after it's in there. There's nothing like seeing that device right into the fundus for proper placement.
