Smith's example is of a person being beaten, and we empathize with that individual. We want to step in and stop the beating, right? And so, Smith says that knowledge should correct our tendency. But if you're working sort of from a sort of blind habituated model or blind tendency, you wouldn't necessarily have that kind of check.
