The Six Modes of Stone Tools
If you took your time machine to the day before the first stone tool was made, you'd still see some of your ancestors making and using tools. These wouldn't be human things of early hominins; these guys had a brain size of a grapefruit. So basically, a bit like chimps, if we look at chimpanzees, for example, they use stones to crack nuts but that's about it. They're not manufacturing tools, they're not making fire or anything like that.
