Stuff You Missed in History Class

CHAPTER

The Great Famine in Ireland

Tull was part of what came to be known as the agricultural revolution in britain. Between 17 hundred and 18 70, british farms became about four times more productive. This led to a drop in food prices and an increase in the varieties of food available. Just in the eighteenth century, the population of england and wales almost doubled. We should note that this increase in food production did not eliminate poverty or famine. The great famine in ireland, which weve covered in a two part episode of the podcast took place during this time.
