How to Adopt a Parent

Style is one of the first reasons why anybody adopts a parent. Mort Drucker was the great caricaturist who did the movie Soutires in Mad Magazine. He could go into the movie theater, look at movie stars and caricature them so that they looked like themselves. And he had a wonderful fluid pen and ink style. When I was a kid, I tried copying that because it looked good to me. ButI had no idea why he had somebody's chin overlap that part of their cheek. It was the thing that eventually led me to say he's got some secret knowledge that I don't have. That was that he knows more.
