The idea behind secular heuitism is that people humans have a religious impulse that needs to be met. If we don't replace it with something people are going to turn to these darker tribal religions, says Michael Kucharsky. He believes the equivalent of a secular humanist church could be built in every city in America where weddings and funerals take place each week. It's based on scientific understandings and not interpretations of it so it could be a good framework for planetary discussions having to do with climate change or ending wars etc.
