Epidemic Typhus Leads to Death
Some reports say only 20 to forty % of people have a rash. Rashes in darker skin are either not present, or not apparent, or not appropriately identified. Over all, the biggest risk factors that lead to who is more likely to die versus survive an epidemic typhus infection, are older age and mal nutrition. It actually leads to a chronic infection that can then be reactivated many years later.
