West says we cannot apply the classical distinction of form and matter, nor can we conceive the perceiving subject as a consciousness which interprets, deciphers or orders a sensible matter. He would call both those guys in line with what he's saying. How is it in line with plato? Cas plato seems to be doing exactly the opposite miliponte's chief antagonist - someone who sharply distinguishes the perceived world from the ideal world. And so plato's position is explicitly that perception ish sort of unreliable, decayed thing.
